Annie Oldenburg

Conceptual photographer, freelance artist, educator, and camera hoarder

My entire life I have had a camera glued to my face and art supplies in hand. I remember the feeling of receiving my first camera and the seeming magical witchcraft of developing film in the darkroom. While today most of my images are taken digitally, that wonder and excitement still remains. I love photographing the world around me, collaborating with natural processes, and creating images that invigorates my thirst for adventure. My guilty pleasure is a camera collection with over 20 different devices dated from today through the 1800s. My favorite is a toss up between a gorgeous twin-lens and an original Kodak Brownie.

While photography is my first love, I am a well-rounded artist who thoroughly enjoys experimenting with a variety of media. My education is in both studio and digital arts. I hold a BA in Studio Arts from the University of Wisconsin in Green Bay and a MFA in Visual Studies from the Hallie Ford School of Graduate Studies at the Pacific Northwest College of Art (now Willamette University). I have worked in design and photography careers for 15+ years and as an instructor of art in higher education since 2015. Freelancing is a passion project of mine - a great way to get to know and serve my community!

I currently reside on the border of Illinois and Iowa and serve the greater Quad Cities area. My eclectic mind is always on the search for new passions and hobbies. When I’m not photographing, you will find me traveling, reading apocalyptic novels, baking all the delicious recipes from “The Great British Baking Show”, and disc golfing with the love of my life, Jeff, and our sassy pups Clover and Korra.

I look forward to meeting you and working together!
